Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., the bipartisan Tax Structure Work Group (TSWG) will be holding virtual tax town halls for 18th District residents and those in several surrounding districts. The goal of these 90-minute town halls is for the TSWG to hear from individual taxpayers and business owners regarding the state's tax structure in order to make informed recommendations on potential changes going forward. You can learn more here.
It is my hope you will join me tomorrow in speaking out against any proposed tax increases, as well as any policies that would add financial stress to Washington families. As I've said before, I am not interested in supporting bills or budgets that raise your taxes or drive job creators out of our state. Unfortunately, the Legislature has raised taxes on Washingtonians in each of the past three legislative sessions – including adding a new payroll tax and a new income tax on capital gains. With revenues continuing to be strong despite the devastation the pandemic has wrought, I believe it's time for us to take the opposite approach and offer significant tax relief during the 2022 session.
I hope to see you (via Zoom) tomorrow!
Please continue reaching out to me with your comments, questions and concerns. My email address is Larry.Hoff@leg.wa.gov, and my district office number is (360) 419-5592.
It is an honor to serve you.
